Background of the Ladli Bahna Scheme
The Ladli Bahna scheme was initially launched on June 10, 2023, by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, providing a monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000 to women beneficiaries. The scheme was first revised in September 2023, increasing the monthly support to Rs. 1,250. Since its launch, the program has been a key welfare initiative aimed at empowering women in Madhya Pradesh, and it is also considered politically significant for the ruling party in the state.
Financial and Social Impact
The increase in monthly assistance highlights the government’s commitment to women’s welfare and financial empowerment. The additional Rs. 250 per month per beneficiary will provide tangible support to families across the state. Analysts say that the enhanced benefits are likely to improve the scheme’s reach and effectiveness, positively impacting women from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
