Mahakumbh Nagar: A team of 50 officers from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, including 20 officers from Nashik and 30 from the Madhya Pradesh Police, have undergone extensive training in crowd management during their visit to the ongoing Mahakumbh.
Led by Nashik Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam, the officers learned crucial skills for handling large crowds, engaging in discussions with fair administration, and visiting different parts of the festival. The team also interacted with Fair Officer Vijay Kiran Anand, who provided detailed insights into crowd control techniques.
Notably, the team includes Special Inspector General of Police Dattatraya Karale, DM Jalaj Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, CEO Manik Gursal, and officers from the Trimbakeshwar administration. The Madhya Pradesh contingent, led by Additional SP Neeraj Pandey, included 10 IPS officers and 19 Deputy SPs, with nine women officers among them.
The officers visited critical areas of the fair, including the pontoon bridges and traffic systems, and observed the command center, which monitors every part of the sprawling fair area. These real-time lessons in crowd management are expected to be beneficial for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain in 2028.
The training is part of a broader initiative as 200 trainee IPS officers have already attended the Mahakumbh. The Simhastha Kumbh will be hosted in Nashik in 2027 and Ujjain in 2028, providing a valuable opportunity for officers to refine their skills ahead of these significant events.
