Mumbai: In a significant administrative move, the Maharashtra government has transferred and appointed seven senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to important positions across departments including tourism, information technology, water supply, sanitation, and public health.
The transfers, effective immediately, are aimed at improving governance efficiency and strengthening coordination across critical sectors. The order was issued late on Monday by the state government.
Key Transfers and New Appointments
- Sanjay Khandare (IAS: 1996), Principal Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, has been posted as Principal Secretary (Tourism) in the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department.
- Parrag Jaiin Nainutia (IAS: 1996), presently serving as Principal Secretary (Information Technology), will take charge as Principal Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, replacing Mr. Khandare.
- Kunal Kumar (IAS: 1999) has been appointed Managing Director, Shivshahi Punarvasan Project, Mumbai — a key urban redevelopment initiative of the state government.
Reassignments in IT and Health Departments
- Virendra Singh (IAS: 2006) has been appointed as Secretary (Information Technology) in the General Administration Department.
- E. Ravendiran (IAS: 2008) has been posted as Secretary (2), Public Health Department, where he will oversee policy implementation and administrative reforms.
- M. J. Pradeep Chandran (IAS: 2012) will take charge as Project Director, Balasaheb Thackeray Agribusiness and Rural Transformation (SMART) Project, Pune — a flagship initiative aimed at promoting agribusiness and rural innovation.
Pavneet Kaur Appointed Additional Municipal Commissioner, Pune
Pavneet Kaur (IAS: 2014), currently serving as Deputy Director General at YASHADA, Pune, has been appointed as Additional Municipal Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation. Her new role will focus on urban governance and infrastructure management in one of Maharashtra’s most dynamic cities.
Strategic Administrative Realignment
The reshuffle is being viewed as a strategic step by the Maharashtra government to strengthen leadership across key departments and ensure the smooth execution of developmental projects and citizen services.
By positioning experienced officers in pivotal roles, the government aims to enhance inter-departmental coordination, accelerate policy delivery, and maintain momentum in infrastructure, tourism, and digital governance reforms.
