In a significant shake-up of administrative leadership in Pune, District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase, an IAS officer of 2009 batch, has been promoted to the position of Secretary in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and appointed as the state’s Jamavbandi Commissioner. His promotion comes after his successful tenure in Pune, during which he oversaw important elections and crucial infrastructure projects.

In his place, 2016 batch IAS officer Jitendra Dudi, previously the Satara District Collector, has been appointed the new Pune District Collector.

The transfer orders were issued by V Radha, Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department.

Jitendra Dudi, who hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan, has had a diverse career spanning across various regions. He began his administrative journey in Jharkhand before moving to Maharashtra, where he served as the Junnar Provincial Officer in Pune district. Dudi’s most recent role was as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sangli Zilla Parishad. Notably, he has also served as an Assistant Secretary in the central government.

In addition to Dudi’s new assignment, Pune Zilla Parishad CEO Santosh Patil has been transferred to Satara to take over as the new District Collector. The change in leadership has generated considerable interest due to the notable presence of multiple members from the Dudi family in key administrative roles within the Pune district. Jitendra Dudi’s wife, Aanchal Dalal, is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer currently posted with the State Reserve Force (SRPF) in Pune. Moreover, Dudi’s brother-in-law, Shekhar Singh, serves as the Commissioner of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Dr. Suhas Diwase’s tenure as Pune District Collector was marked by his handling of critical elections, including the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Under his leadership, Pune saw a significant increase in voter registration, and the district made remarkable strides in infrastructure projects, including the completion of 85-90% of the land acquisition and award process for the eastern phase of the circular road, a flagship project aimed at improving Pune’s traffic management.

The leadership transition in Pune signals a new phase of administrative priorities as Dudi takes on the challenges of managing the district, building on the foundation laid by his predecessors.
