Dhanbad: Manoj Kumar Agarwal has officially taken over as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a key subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). The announcement marks a significant development in the leadership of one of India’s most crucial coal-producing entities.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Agarwal served as Director (Technical) at BCCL, contributing to the organization’s operational excellence and technological advancement.
Rich Legacy in India’s Coal Sector
With an illustrious career spanning over four decades, Mr. Agarwal has held several pivotal roles across Coal India subsidiaries, including Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). His extensive experience covers technical, operational, and leadership domains, making him a seasoned professional well-suited to helm BCCL during this transformative phase for the energy sector.
Academic Excellence and Strategic Insight
Mr. Agarwal holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the prestigious Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad. He further fortified his management credentials with an Executive MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi, combining technical prowess with strategic acumen.

Chairs First GM Coordination Meeting as CMD
Demonstrating an active leadership stance from day one, Mr. Agarwal chaired the 1st General Managers’ Coordination Meeting on September 2, 2025, at Koyla Bhawan, BCCL’s headquarters.
The meeting was attended by senior executives including:
- Mr. Murli Krishna Ramaiah, Director (HR)
- Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Technical–Operations)
- Mr. Aman Raj, Chief Vigilance Officer
- Mr. Jitendra Kumar Tiwari, DIG, CISF
