MCL Signs MoUs with Jharsuguda District Administration to Enhance Education and Community Development

Rs 5.99 Crore Investment to Build Electrified Classrooms, Rejuvenate Khaliakani Pond, and Set Up ICT Labs in 130 Schools

New Delhi/Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has entered into two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the District Administration of Jharsuguda to implement key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These projects, with a combined investment of Rs 5.99 crore, aim to enhance educational infrastructure and promote community development in the district.

Electrified Classrooms and Pond Restoration

Under the first MoU, MCL will invest Rs 4.50 crore to construct electrified classrooms at Brajrajnagar College. In addition, the company will undertake the rejuvenation and beautification of Khaliakani Pond in Brajrajnagar. The pond restoration project will include jetty construction, pathway development, and landscaping, aimed at improving the ecological balance and transforming the area into a vibrant community space for residents.

ICT Labs for Schools Across Jharsuguda

The second MoU focuses on digital education, with MCL committing Rs 1.49 crore to set up Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs in 130 Government Upper Primary Schools across the district. Each lab will be equipped with desktop computers, UPS systems, tables, and chairs to provide students with access to modern digital learning tools. This initiative is expected to improve learning outcomes and enhance digital literacy among students.
