Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gram-Utthan to roll out the ‘Swabalambi’ project, a key initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at empowering rural women.
Under this project, 50 women from the Ib Valley Area in Jharsuguda district will undergo advanced sewing skill development training. The initiative is designed to uplift the socio-economic conditions of marginalized women by equipping them with practical, income-generating skills.
The collaboration between MCL and Gram-Utthan underscores a joint commitment to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural communities. The ‘Swabalambi’ project is expected to foster self-reliance and long-term empowerment among participants, paving the way for greater economic independence.
MCL officials highlighted that beyond individual growth, the initiative is a step toward inclusive community development, promoting both economic resilience and social inclusion at the grassroots level.
