On June 24th, the government of Meghalaya orchestrated a major bureaucratic reshuffle by transferring several IAS officers across the state. Mr. Sampath Kumar (1997-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Principal Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, was given the charge of Forests & Environment.
Officer FR Kharkongor (2000-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Commissioner & Secretary in the Department of Arts & Culture, was given charge of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary. Mr. Pravin Bakshi (2006-batch IAS officer), presently posted as Commissioner & Secretary in the Department of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, was made Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Invest Meghalaya Authority (IMA) under the Department of Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development.
Mr. V K Mantri (2007-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Commissioner & Secretary to the Department of Information & Public Relations, was given charge of the Education Department and Mining & Geology Department and as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) under the Department of Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development.
Dr. Joram Beda (2008-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Commissioner & Secretary to the Department of Soil & Water Conservation and Registrar of Societies was relieved of his functions as Registrar of Societies.
Officer R C Sohklet (IAS), presently posted as Secretary to the Department of Tourism, Sports & Youth Affairs, was relieved of her functions as Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs. At the same time, Officer R P Marak (IAS), the incumbent Secretary to the Department of Mining & Geology and Commissioner of Transport, was given additional charge as Director in the Department of Mineral Resources.
Officer I Laloo (2013-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Secretary to the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Director of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs was given additional charge as Secretary to the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs and as the Director of the Department of Urban Affairs.
Officer D D Sangma (2020-batch IAS officer), presently posted as Additional Secretary to the Department of Mining & Geology, was made Commissioner of Transport after being relieved from the Department of Health & Family Welfare and the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Officer R Chitturi (2016-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Joint Secretary to the Department of Finance, was made the Joint Chief Executive Officer in the Invest Meghalaya Authority (IMA) operating under the Department of Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development.
Officer M Chandra (IAS), presently Joint Secretary to the Department of Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development, was given additional charge of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare while Officer D D Shira (IAS), the incumbent Joint Secretary to the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, was made Director in the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs and Officer P K Boro (IAS), the incumbent Joint Secretary in-charge Urban Affairs, has been relieved of his functions as Director of Urban Affairs.
