New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday approved the promotion of 24 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the AGMUT cadre from the 2013 batch to the Selection Grade, including 22 officers currently serving in the cadre and two officers on central deputation who were granted proforma promotion.
Promotion Effective Dates
The promotions to Selection Grade (Level-13 in the Pay Matrix) will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.

Proforma Promotion for Officers on Central Deputation
Two AGMUT cadre IPS officers of the 2013 batch, currently serving on central deputation, have been granted proforma promotion to Selection Grade on an actual basis:
- Chandan Kohli
- Surendra Choudhary
Their promotions are effective from January 1, 2026, or from the date of assumption of charge of their immediate juniors in the cadre.

The Selection Grade in the IPS is a senior-level promotion, typically given after 12–14 years of service, recognizing officers for their experience, administrative capability, and leadership potential.
