Indore-Ujjain: The Indore-Ujjain Green Field 4-Lane road project is moving forward rapidly, with land acquisition in 20 villages across Hatod and Sanwer tehsils. Collector Shivam Verma confirmed that compensation distribution has commenced for affected farmers and landowners.
A total compensation of ₹626.49 crore has been approved, benefiting 662 account holders and their families. Villages included in the project are Budhaniya, Hatod, Sagwal, Kankariya Bodia, Jambudi Sarvar, Jinda Kheda, Ratan Khedi, Bibi Khedi, Pipliya Kayasth, Hariy Khedi, Khatediya, Rangkaradiya, Kachhaliya, Balghara, Potlod, Tumni, Magarkhedi, Chittoda, Ballariya, and Ralamandal.
Boost to Religious Tourism and Connectivity
The new four-lane expressway is expected to significantly enhance religious tourism between Indore and Ujjain. The project includes service roads, underpasses, ducts on both sides, two flyovers, and one Railway Over Bridge (ROB), ensuring smooth and safe travel.
Once completed, travel time between Indore and Ujjain will reduce to just 30 minutes from the current 1–1.5 hours. The road will provide direct connectivity from Indore Airport to Mahakal Temple, strengthening Ujjain’s position as a religious tourism hub.
Commercial, Industrial, and Local Benefits
Apart from tourism, the project is poised to bring commercial and industrial growth. The road will improve connectivity to the Pithampur industrial area and generate local employment opportunities. It will also play a crucial role in supporting the upcoming Simhastha 2028 festival, ensuring efficient transport and crowd management.
