Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, commenced its meeting with the collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ at the state secretariat. The cabinet took several important decisions aimed at accelerating development, supporting farmers and employees, and enhancing urban infrastructure across the state. The decisions were detailed by Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla.
Relief for Flood-Affected Areas
The cabinet approved a special package of ₹1,782 crore for areas affected by submergence under the Upper Narmada Project, Raghavpur Multipurpose Project, and Basania Multipurpose Project. This package will support irrigation projects in Anuppur, Mandla, and Dindori districts, with a total project cost of ₹5,512 crore.
The development will cover 71,967 hectares of land for irrigation and generate 125 MW of electricity, providing significant relief and support for flood-affected communities.
Rural Infrastructure Enhancement
The Chief Minister Gram Road and Infrastructure Scheme index has been upgraded from 2 to 3. Under this scheme, projects worth ₹3,810 crore have been approved to improve rural connectivity and infrastructure, ensuring accelerated development in villages and remote areas.
Support for Youth Entrepreneurship
The cabinet approved ₹905 crore for the Udyam Kranti (Entrepreneurship Revolution) Scheme for the fiscal year 2026-27, providing financial support and incentives to youth aged 18-45 for self-employment. The initiative includes low-interest loans, grants, and other support to encourage sustainable entrepreneurship across the state.
Government Employee Reforms
A major administrative reform was also approved, eliminating the distinction between permanent and temporary posts in state government departments. Previously, employees were classified into 10 categories, including regular, contractual, outsourced, and part-time positions. The classification has now been simplified to five main categories, reducing post-retirement complications and providing relief to millions of state employees.
Metro Rail Operations and Maintenance Budget
For urban infrastructure, the cabinet approved a budget allocation of ₹90.67 crore for 2025-26 to support the operation and maintenance of the Bhopal–Indore Metro Rail Project, ensuring smooth and efficient metro services for residents of the state’s two major cities.
The cabinet meeting under CM Mohan Yadav reflects the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, employee welfare, urban modernization, and flood relief measures. These decisions are expected to significantly benefit rural communities, urban commuters, and state employees while accelerating Madhya Pradesh’s overall development trajectory.
