Bhopal: In a key cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, several significant decisions were taken, including providing free registration of residential plots to families displaced by the Sardar Sarovar Project. The meeting also approved major irrigation projects in Maihar and Katni districts and sanctioned the continuity of 10 major schemes across six departments with a total outlay exceeding ₹15,009 crore.
Free Registration for Sardar Sarovar Project Displaced Families
The cabinet decided to make the registration of allotted residential plots free of cost for families displaced by the Sardar Sarovar Project in the Narmada Valley. According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the Narmada Valley Development Authority will reimburse the registration fee and stamp duty.
This initiative is expected to benefit more than 25,600 families, with an estimated financial implication of ₹600 crore for the state government. The move aims to provide ease of ownership and financial relief to resettled families.
Approval of Irrigation Projects in Maihar and Katni
The cabinet approved two major irrigation projects in Maihar and Katni districts, with a combined cost of ₹620.65 crore:
- Maihar and Katni Dhanvahi Micro Pressure Irrigation Project: Approved at ₹53.73 crore, this project will provide irrigation facilities to 3,500 hectares and benefit 2,810 farmers across nine villages.
- Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project in Katni: Approved at ₹566.92 crore, the project will cover 20,000 hectares, benefiting 11,500 farmers in 27 villages of Barhi and Vijayraghavgarh tehsils.
These projects aim to boost agricultural productivity and support local farmers by expanding irrigation coverage.
Continuity of 10 Major Schemes Across Six Departments
The cabinet sanctioned a total of ₹15,009 crore for the continuity of 10 key schemes from 2026-27 to 2030-31 across six departments:
- Finance Department: ₹115.06 crore for 8 minor schemes
- Labour Department: ₹5,000 crore for Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal 2.0) Scheme
- Planning, Economics & Statistics Department: ₹3,376.66 crore for constituency development and office plans
- Animal Husbandry & Dairy Department: ₹6,472.18 crore for Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme, veterinary university block grants, and livestock development initiatives
- Women & Child Development Department: ₹24.70 crore for Adolescent Welfare Fund and assistance for domestic violence victims
- Backward Classes & Minority Welfare: ₹21 crore for Minority Self-Employment/Entrepreneurship Scheme
These approvals ensure long-term continuity and expansion of welfare, livelihood, and social development programs.
Other Key Decisions
The cabinet approved the merger of employees of the Madhya Pradesh State Social Welfare Board into the Women and Child Development Department following the board’s dissolution. This move is expected to streamline administrative functions and improve the efficiency of social welfare programs.
