Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s recent visit to Delhi has yielded significant gains for the state’s agriculture and infrastructure sectors. Through high-level meetings with central ministers, the visit opened new avenues for strengthening farmers’ welfare and accelerating rural development.
Historic Decisions for Mustard and Tur Dal Farmers
During the visit, the central government approved Madhya Pradesh’s proposal under the Price Difference Payment (Bhavantar Bhugtan) Scheme, directly benefiting mustard farmers. The difference between market price and support price will now be credited directly into farmers’ bank accounts.
Additionally, the central agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved 100% government procurement of Tur (Arhar) pulses, ensuring that dal-producing farmers receive fair prices for their entire harvest, shielding them from market volatility.
Crop Insurance Modernization and Technology Integration
The Chief Minister also discussed enhancements to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Following his suggestions, losses in soybean and other crops will be assessed using both satellite data and crop-cutting experiments to provide accurate and timely compensation to farmers. Madhya Pradesh plans to celebrate 2026 as ‘Kisan Kalyan Year’, aiming to make agriculture more profitable and sustainable.
Tackling Black Marketing Amid Global Crises
Amid global tensions and the Gulf crisis, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized strong state-level regulation to curb black marketing of LPG and CNG. Citizens have been assured of adequate fuel availability, preventing panic or shortages in the state.
River-Linking Projects and Infrastructure Development
The Delhi meetings also reviewed major river-linking projects, including Ken-Betwa and Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal. The Ministry of Jal Shakti is set to allocate nearly ₹1 lakh crore for each project. The Chief Minister highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s rapid implementation of the Nal-Jal Scheme and secured agreements with the finance ministry for timely funding of the Singhsath-2028 preparations and the Jal Jeevan Mission.
