Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday inaugurated and flagged off 57 mobile forensic vans from the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Bhopal, equipped with cutting-edge technology to aid crime scene investigations across the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that these vans would serve as a milestone in enhancing forensic capabilities, enabling faster and more accurate crime resolution.
Enhancing Scientific Crime Investigation
The launch of these mobile forensic vans is aimed at significantly boosting scientific investigation and evidence collection in criminal cases. Each van is equipped with advanced forensic tools, allowing police teams to conduct thorough examinations of crime scenes directly on-site. CM Yadav highlighted that forensic-based investigation will accelerate crime detection, improve the accuracy of evidence collection, and increase the conviction rate of offenders.
“The integration of modern technology into police operations will make law enforcement more transparent, efficient, and effective, ensuring that criminals are swiftly brought to justice,” he added.
Modern Fleet and Investment
The total fleet of 57 mobile forensic vans has been developed at a cost of ₹36.94 crore, with support from the central government. In the first phase, 14 vans were deployed to various districts on December 16, 2025, with the remaining vehicles expected to be operational shortly.
“These mobile vans are essentially state-of-the-art laboratories on wheels, bringing high-tech crime investigation capabilities to the doorstep of districts across Madhya Pradesh,” said CM Yadav.
Cutting-Edge Equipment Onboard
The vans are equipped with high-end hardware and specialized forensic kits for a wide range of investigative purposes:
Hardware:
- Stereo microscope and weighing balance for precise examination
- High-resolution DSLR cameras and body-worn cameras for detailed documentation
- Mini-fridge, LED TV screens, and thermal printers
Specialized Kits:
- Fingerprint, blood, and hair identification kits
- Tools for explosives, narcotics, and arson investigation
- Bullet hole, gunshot residue (GSR), and DNA collection kits
- High-intensity forensic light sources and specialized tools for tire mark identification

The deployment of these vans will allow police teams to gather evidence promptly, enhance crime scene analysis, and facilitate quicker apprehension of suspects. By using scientific and technology-driven investigation methods, the state aims to improve overall conviction rates and strengthen law enforcement processes.
