Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has instructed state officials to implement the Farmer Welfare Year 2026 in mission mode to ensure effective outcomes for farmers across the state. Addressing all commissioners and collectors via video conference on January 31, 2026, Dr. Yadav stressed that supporting the well-being of farmers—the backbone of the nation—is a key duty of the government.
“Farmer welfare is the government’s top priority. The objective of the Farmer Welfare Year is to enhance farmers’ lives through dedicated efforts and mission-mode implementation,” Dr. Yadav said.
Initiatives to Promote Crop Production and Sustainable Farming
The Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives to encourage higher crop yields, especially for urad, peanut, and other pulses, replacing summer moong cultivation in suitable areas. He urged farmers to adopt organic and natural farming practices, efficient water usage, and balanced fertilizer application using the e-Development portal.
Dr. Yadav also instructed officials to ensure that Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Yojana benefits reach maximum farmers in aspirational districts. Awareness campaigns will promote legume and oilseed cultivation, expanding production and improving profitability.

Focus on Agriculture-Based Industries and Interdepartmental Coordination
The CM emphasized that multiple departments, including horticulture, food processing, dairy, fisheries, water resources, cooperative, energy, revenue, forest, rural development, and cottage industries, would actively participate in initiatives for farmer welfare.
Officials were directed to strengthen agriculture-based industries, improve value addition of crops, and create a full commercial chain to enhance marketability and pricing of farm produce.
Managing Crop Residue and Promoting Sustainable Practices
Dr. Yadav instructed collectors to strictly prevent stubble burning and ensure crop residue is redirected to cow shelters or used in biogas and compost plants. Proper stubble management will benefit livestock and promote sustainable farming practices.
Boosting Dairy and Fisheries Production
The CM called for coordinated efforts to increase milk production and support livestock owners through awareness of breed improvement, nutrition, and health management. A dedicated mobile app is being developed to guide farmers on feed, care, and milk productivity, helping them increase profits directly.
Similarly, fish production will be enhanced through district-level hatcheries, establishment of fish parlors, and proper marketing channels, ensuring better prices and access to urban markets.
Regular Monitoring and Farmer Engagement
Dr. Yadav emphasized continuous engagement with farmers through farmer chariots (Kisan Rath), regular field visits, and dialogue with local representatives. Officials must monitor planned activities, verify beneficiaries, and include new farmers in welfare schemes.
He also highlighted the use of innovative financing methods, such as PPP models, CSR funds, and central government schemes, to expand resources for agricultural development.
