Bhopal: In a major New Year administrative exercise, the Madhya Pradesh government has promoted a large number of IAS and IPS officers, issuing orders late Wednesday through the General Administration Department (GAD) and the Home Department. The promotions span senior administrative ranks as well as key police leadership positions, significantly reshaping the state’s bureaucratic and law enforcement hierarchy.

M. Selvendran Promoted to Principal Secretary

Among the most significant administrative promotions, M. Selvendran, who was serving as Secretary in the General Administration Department, has been elevated to the post of Principal Secretary. The promotion reflects recognition of his seniority and administrative experience within the state government.

IPS Promotions: Ashutosh Rai Made Special DG, Pramod Verma Elevated to ADG

On the policing front, the Home Department promoted IPS officer Ashutosh Rai to the rank of Special Director General of Police (Special DGP). He has been posted at the Police Headquarters (PHQ).

Additionally, Pramod Verma, who was serving as Inspector General (IG), Jabalpur Zone, has been promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADG). He will continue to serve in Jabalpur following his elevation.

16 IAS Officers Promoted to Secretary Rank

In a major administrative move, the General Administration Department promoted 16 IAS officers to the post of Secretary. All these officers were previously working as Additional Secretaries or Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) in their respective departments.

11 District Collectors Among 24 IAS Officers Promoted to Additional Secretary

The GAD has also promoted 24 IAS officers to the post of Additional Secretary, including Collectors from 11 districts. The postings of these officers have been kept unchanged.

The promotion of several IAS officers has been kept on hold.

Promotions of Tarun Bhatnagar, Anurag Chaudhary, and Santosh Kumar Verma for the posts of Secretary and Additional Secretary have been stalled.

Rishi Garg’s promotion has also been stalled due to a pending departmental inquiry.
