Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has emphasized that passenger convenience and ease of travel must remain the top priority as Madhya Pradesh upgrades its passenger transport system. He directed officials to adopt modern technologies, integrate services across urban and rural areas, and ensure strict compliance with permit regulations.
Dr. Yadav issued these instructions while chairing the Board of Directors meeting of Madhya Pradesh Passenger Transport and Infrastructure Limited at the Secretariat on Tuesday. Transport Minister Uday Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, and senior officials were present.
App-Based Booking, Fare Collection and Real-Time Bus Tracking
The Chief Minister said that the state’s bus services should operate on a modern digital platform. Passengers must be able to book buses, pay fares, track vehicles, and view route information through a mobile application.
He instructed that municipal corporation buses and Government of India–supported e-buses be consolidated under a single system. Urban and rural bus networks should also be rationally integrated to facilitate smooth movement between districts, towns, and villages.
Strict Action Against Operators Violating Permit Rules
Dr. Yadav directed the administration to ensure that private bus operators do not choose only profitable routes. They must operate strictly on routes allotted under their permits, and non-compliance should invite strict action.
To promote environmental protection, buses 15 years or older will be removed from passenger transport routes. He also instructed officials to study successful passenger transport models from other states and adopt their best practices in Madhya Pradesh.
Logo Competition for Passenger Transport Service
The Chief Minister announced that a statewide competition will be organized to design a new logo for the passenger transport company. This, he said, will help create a strong brand identity for the modernized transport system.
India’s First Integrated Transport Software with 18 Modules
Officials informed the meeting that the upcoming system will operate on a participatory model involving bus operators and drivers, similar to platforms like Uber and Ola. An intelligent transport management system has been developed featuring 18 modules, including vehicle location tracking, automatic fare collection, alert management, and grievance redressal.
The system will be launched first in Indore, followed by Ujjain, before expanding across the state.
Areas Included in the First Phases
- Indore Region: Dhar, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Barwani
- Ujjain Region: Dewas, Agar-Malwa, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Shajapur, Ratlam
Seven-Phase Expansion Across All Divisions of Madhya Pradesh
The passenger transport system will be rolled out in phases:
• Phase 1: All urban and inter-city routes within a 50 km radius of Indore
• Phase 2: All districts of Indore division; 50 km radius in Bhopal and Ujjain
• Phase 3: All districts of Ujjain division
• Phase 4: All districts of Sagar and Jabalpur divisions
• Phase 5: All districts of Bhopal and Narmadapuram divisions
• Phase 6: All districts of Rewa and Shahdol divisions
• Phase 7: All districts of Gwalior and Chambal divisions
Passenger fares will be calculated using a formula that considers wholesale price index, fuel cost, labor rates, capital cost, and current fare structures.
With these measures, the state government aims to build a modern, efficient, environmentally conscious, and fully integrated transport network for the public.
