Balaghat: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Balaghat district has successfully overcome the longstanding Naxal threat, thanks to the extraordinary courage and resilience of the local police force. Speaking at the Balaghat Police Lines, CM Yadav said, “Balaghat’s strength lies in its people. Our jawans have eliminated Naxalism from the region through courage, determination, and public trust.”
The Naxal eradication campaign was led by the Hawk Force, whose role was described as exemplary. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh Police implemented effective strategies that forced Naxals to surrender, bringing an end to the menace.
Amar Jawan Jyoti and Memorials to Honor Fallen Heroes
During the ceremony, CM Yadav paid tribute to the 38 police personnel and 27 civilians who sacrificed their lives during the Naxal operations by laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti. He also inaugurated the Naxal Remembrance Book, documenting the campaign’s history and valor.
The Chief Minister further announced the establishment of the Amar Jawan Jyoti Naxal-Free Campaign Memorial in Balaghat to honor the fallen heroes.

Promotions for Brave Officers
CM Yadav awarded 60 police officers for their outstanding bravery during Naxal encounters. Promotions were given across ranks, from constables to inspectors, recognizing their exemplary service and courage. The ceremony was attended by ADG Naxal Control, SP Balaghat, local MLAs, ministers, and family members of the jawans.
ISO Certification for Balaghat Police Stations
In a first, CM Yadav remotely inaugurated 32 Balaghat police stations and government offices that achieved ISO certification, enhancing accountability and service quality. The event highlighted the modernization and efficiency of law enforcement in the district.
Development Initiatives in Naxal-Affected Areas
To ensure lasting peace, the government has initiated multiple development programs in Balaghat:
- Renovation of 250 schools in Naxal-affected areas.
- Establishment of single-window service centers for tribal communities.
- Issuance of land rights, caste certificates, and employment camps for locals.
- Infrastructure development, including connecting villages with paved roads.
- Announcement of an Agriculture Cabinet as part of the Farmers’ Welfare Year.
CM Yadav emphasized that areas once dominated by Naxals will now witness employment, education, and trust-building, ensuring no resurgence of extremist activities.
Hawk Force and Police Strategy Praised
ADG of Naxal Control, Mr. Venkateshwar Rao, praised the dedication of the police force, noting that operations involved 4,104 missions last year, overcoming challenges like monsoons and wildlife hazards. Hawk Force employed advanced strategies to eliminate hardcore Naxals and maintain peace.
SP Balaghat, Mr. Aditya Mishra, assured that the district is now a safe and prosperous region where public welfare programs are being implemented effectively.
Historical Significance and Public Impact
CM Yadav highlighted the historical challenges in Balaghat, including the assassination of former minister Likhiram Kawre, and credited the police and government for restoring security. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring Naxal-free Madhya Pradesh while promoting development and opportunities for youth and tribal populations.
