Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has officially commenced wheat procurement for the 2026 season, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring fair prices and improving farmer welfare. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav urged farmers to take full advantage of the organized procurement system and highlighted measures to make the process smooth and transparent.
CM Mohan Yadav Highlights Farmer Welfare Priority
CM Yadav reiterated that serving the people and protecting farmers’ interests is a top priority for the state government. He noted that all procurement centers have been prepared with adequate arrangements for:
- Drinking water and shaded areas for farmers
- Streamlined operations to avoid delays
- Support from social and voluntary organizations
The Chief Minister emphasized that 2026 is being celebrated as “Kisan Kalyan Varsh” (Farmer Welfare Year) in Madhya Pradesh, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to improving farmer income.
Virtual Interaction with Farmer Representatives
CM Yadav held a virtual dialogue with farmer groups and NGO representatives from the Chief Minister’s residence. During the session, he stressed:
- Sufficient availability of gunny bags for wheat
- Raising the procurement price to ₹2,700 per quintal to benefit farmers
- Active monitoring of procurement operations
He also highlighted the role of help desks at procurement centers and district-level control rooms to provide real-time support to farmers.
Information and Awareness for Farmers
To ensure smooth operations, the government has instructed:
- Distribution of pamphlets and hoardings at centers to provide clear information
- Educating farmers visiting procurement centers about government welfare schemes
- Real-time monitoring from the Chief Minister’s control room
CM Yadav called on farmers to utilize these facilities to ensure efficient and transparent wheat procurement.
Focus on Fair Pricing and Inclusive Participation
The government’s wheat procurement initiative aims to:
- Guarantee fair prices for farmers
- Minimize middlemen interference
- Encourage participation from social and service organizations for wider outreach
