With the incumbent DGP of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Saxena (1992-batch IPS officer), set to retire on November 30th, 2024, the process of selecting a new police chief has gained momentum. The state government has submitted a panel of nine names to the UPSC, which will shortlist three candidates and return the list to the state government.
Additionally, deliberations are underway to finalize the heads of the Home Guard, Police Housing Corporation, and EOW. Among the contenders, Mr. Kailash Makwana (1988-batch IPS officer) is reportedly leading, as his CR has been upgraded by the Chief Minister. Mr. Ajay Sharma (1989-batch IPS officer) and Mr. Arvind Kumar (1988-batch IPS officer) are also considered strong candidates for the position.
