The Core Committee representing several Nagaland state service associations, including CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA, has voiced strong “disappointment and concern” over the withdrawal of the Vacancy Circular dated March 10, 2025, related to the induction of Non-State Civil Service (Non-SCS) officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
In a joint statement, the Committee expressed their dismay over the government’s decision to withdraw the circular after the 15-day application window had already lapsed, and without providing clear justification. The associations had previously submitted a formal objection and a follow-up reminder on April 4, 2025, emphasizing that the original circular was “fair, transparent, and merit-based.”
The Core Committee highlighted that the March 10, 2025 circular had been widely appreciated for its merit-driven approach, requiring IAS aspirants to have entered service through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). However, the sudden withdrawal of the circular on March 25, 2025, followed by the state’s decision on March 27, 2025, to re-advertise the vacancy based on Central Government guidelines, has raised significant concerns.
The Committee further pointed out that several qualified officers, who had applied before the withdrawal, now face the erosion of their aspirations and trust in the system. They urged the government to reinstate the original circular and ensure that the selection process remains merit-based, transparent, and fair.
