Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to promote skill development and sustainable livelihood for rural youth, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar. The MoU aims to implement a specialized skill training programme for youth from villages surrounding NALCO’s operational units in Damanjodi and Angul.

The agreement was inked on October 7, 2025, at NALCO’s Corporate Office, with representatives from both organizations present. NALCO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of NALCO, will sponsor 40 youths — 20 each from the peripheral villages of NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex in Damanjodi and Smelter & Power Complex in Angul — for a five-month residential training programme at CTTC, Bhubaneswar.

Focus on Industry-Ready Skills and Sustainable Livelihoods

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD of NALCO, appreciated the initiative, emphasizing that the programme would provide local youth with industry-relevant skills and open avenues for sustainable employment opportunities. He highlighted the potential of such CSR interventions to set a benchmark in regional skill development by nurturing local talent and boosting youth confidence.

The training curriculum will align with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) of the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), ensuring that the youth receive nationally recognized certification, improving their employability in various industrial sectors.
