Vav-Tharad, Gujarat: Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple development projects worth approximately ₹20,000 crore in Gujarat’s Vav-Tharad region. The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed ahead of his public address, where he highlighted infrastructure growth, renewable energy expansion, and national security.
Pays Tribute on Navratri and Mahavir Jayanti
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister began on a spiritual note, offering prayers to Maa Amba. He also extended greetings on Mahavir Jayanti, honoring Lord Mahavira.
He emphasized the cultural importance of the region, calling it a sacred land of several Jain pilgrimage sites.

Deesa Airbase to Boost National Security
The Prime Minister highlighted the strategic importance of the Deesa airbase, located about 130 km from the international border.
He recalled that the project was conceptualized during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister but faced delays earlier. Now operational, the airbase is expected to significantly strengthen India’s western border security and boost regional development.
Focus on Infrastructure and Regional Growth
Narendra Modi emphasized his deep connection with the region, stating that the newly launched projects will transform Vav-Tharad and Banaskantha.
He noted that improved roads, highways, and connectivity initiatives have already changed the region’s landscape, which once struggled with drought and water scarcity.
Gujarat Emerging as Renewable Energy Hub
Highlighting Gujarat’s achievements, the Prime Minister said the state is now a leader in solar energy and renewable power.
He recalled initiating one of India’s first solar parks in 2010 and said projects like the Khavda Renewable Energy Park are positioning Gujarat as a global renewable energy hub.
India Maintains Stability Amid Global Challenges
Speaking on global issues, Narendra Modi mentioned ongoing conflicts and instability in West Asia, which have triggered energy concerns worldwide.
Despite these challenges, he said India has maintained stability due to strong foreign policy and national unity.
Criticism of Opposition Parties
The Prime Minister also criticized opposition parties, particularly the Indian National Congress, accusing them of exploiting crises for political gain and spreading misinformation during sensitive times.
He referred to protests during a recent AI summit in Delhi, alleging attempts to damage India’s global image.
Call for Continued Trust and Development
Concluding his address, Narendra Modi urged citizens to maintain trust in governance, stating that continued public support will ensure the momentum of development remains strong—from villages to Parliament.
He reaffirmed that the newly launched projects will accelerate growth and improve the quality of life in the region.
