On July 2, 2025, NBCC (India) Limited and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) signed an MoU. NBCC will act as Project Management Consultant for the renovation and redevelopment of the iconic Siri Fort Auditorium Complex in New Delhi.
A Legacy Reimagined
Nestled in the heart of South Delhi and spread across 5.5 acres, Siri Fort Auditorium has, for more than four decades, been a premier venue for cultural expression. Built in 1982 for the ASIAD Games, it features four auditoriums with a combined seating capacity of over 2,600, having hosted international film festivals, musical performances, and public dialogues.
In its reimagined form, Siri Fort will evolve into a multi-dimensional cultural district, integrating diverse art forms and modern technology to engage audiences in immersive and meaningful ways. The project will comply fully with heritage regulations and environmental norms, and meet green building standards.

A Vision for a Cultural Powerhouse
The new development plan outlines a dynamic mix of creative zones-
- Performance & Theatre District: Designed to host concerts, large-scale productions, and global festivals.
- Indian Film & Media Hub: A celebration of Indian cinema through screenings, exhibitions, and archival narratives.
- Convention & Dialogue Forum: A dedicated space for policy discussions, seminars, and thought leadership.
- Arts & Culture Zone: Showcasing fine arts, installations, sculpture, and multimedia exhibitions.
To enhance the visitor experience, the complex will also include-
- Culinary Plaza featuring India’s diverse regional cuisines.
- Cultural Bazaar & Retail Zone for artisan crafts, books, and memorabilia.
- Immersive Heritage Gallery, leveraging cutting-edge digital technology to bring India’s rich history to life.
Future-Ready Infrastructure
The redeveloped Siri Fort will be equipped with-
- Intelligent lighting and kinetic stage architecture
- Immersive AV technology
- Universal accessibility
- High-speed digital infrastructure
The project envisions an expanded built-up area of over 20,000 square metres, adhering to a Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of 1.2 and a maximum height of 26 metres. It will conform to global green building certifications such as LEED, IGBC, and GRIHA, reinforcing India’s commitment to sustainable development and climate responsibility.
Execution & Oversight
The project will be developed on a deposit work basis, with NBCC acting as Project Management Consultant (PMC), handling everything from master planning and design to construction and commissioning. NFDC will reimburse the actual cost of the project along with PMC charges.
To ensure timely and effective execution, a Joint Empowered Committee—chaired by an NFDC official and comprising members from both NFDC and NBCC—will monitor progress, design approvals, and key milestones.
Creating a Cultural Hub for Creativity
The redevelopment aims to transform the complex into a world-class cultural hub. Enhanced infrastructure will improve accessibility and support innovative arts initiatives across theaters, galleries, and performance spaces.
NBCC Handling End-to-End Execution
NBCC will take full responsibility – from architectural planning to project execution. Its role includes detailed design, construction oversight, regulatory coordination, and ensuring quality outcomes.
Expanding Portfolio Alongside Bangkok Zoo Project
Just a month earlier, NBCC secured a ₹354.88 crore contract to develop the African Safari complex at Nagpur’s Gorewada Zoo. That project includes safari plaza, animal hospital, and quarantine facilities—also under NBCC’s Project Management Consultancy.
