New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Mr Bhaskar Barua for the post of Managing Director (MD) of North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC), a Schedule ‘C’ PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER).
Mr Barua is currently serving as Deputy General Manager at the Siliguri Marketing Terminal of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).
Selected After Rigorous Interview Process
The selection was made following a thorough interview process conducted by PESB, where four candidates from prominent PSUs were considered–
- Mr Malay Mandal, Additional General Manager, MSTC Limited
- Mr Bhaskar Barua, Deputy General Manager, NRL (Selected)
- Mr Keshari Nandan, General Manager, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)
- Mr Dipak Tryambak Patil, Deputy General Manager, Ratnagiri Gas & Power Pvt. Ltd.
Following deliberations, the Board found Mr Barua to be the most suitable candidate for the leadership position at NERAMAC.
NERAMAC’s Strategic Role in the Northeast
NERAMAC plays a pivotal role in facilitating agricultural marketing and promoting value-added products for farmers in India’s North East Region. The organization is instrumental in connecting local producers with broader markets and in supporting agri-based development in the region.
The appointment comes at a crucial time as NERAMAC aims to scale up value chain integration and market access for agri-entrepreneurs and farmers.
Currently, Mr Kayio Kayina Th is serving as the Managing Director of NERAMAC. A formal appointment of Mr Barua will follow post-clearances and approvals from the relevant authorities.

North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) Limited was incorporated in 1982 as a CPSE of the GoI and it now functions under the administrative control of Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoNER).
NERAMAC has evolved over the years and apart from its role as a marketing agency, it has in the recent years focussed on capacity building. Accordingly, it is an Implementing Agency of the MoAFW 10,000 FPO Formation and Promotion scheme and has developed 220 FPOs. Significant steps have also been taken into the cold chain segment and establishment of food processing units both major and minor.
