NHPC, CVPPL Sign 40-Year Power Purchase Agreement with DVC

This strategic collaboration strengthens DVC’s renewable energy portfolio, ensuring a stable power supply from hydro sources

Maharatna PSU NHPC Limited and Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL) have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the sale of hydroelectric power, ensuring a long-term power supply for 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD). The agreement was formalized in Kolkata on Friday.

Key Highlights of the Agreement:

  • DVC will procure power from the following hydroelectric projects:
    • NHPC: 2,880 MW Dibang, 800 MW Parbati II, and 500 MW Teesta-VI.
    • CVPPL: 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric Project.
  • The agreement was signed by senior officials from NHPC, CVPPL, and DVC, in the presence of DVC’s Chairman and Board Members.

This strategic collaboration strengthens DVC’s renewable energy portfolio, ensuring a stable power supply from hydro sources. It also reinforces NHPC’s commitment to expanding hydropower generation and supporting India’s clean energy goals.

The long-term PPA will provide financial stability to all parties involved and ensure the efficient utilization of hydroelectric resources. The collaboration is expected to enhance power reliability, fostering industrial and economic growth in the region.
