NHPC Limited, India’s flagship hydropower PSU, has sealed a transformational 25‑year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with JSW Energy’s subsidiary Energizent Power Pvt Ltd for a 300 MW ISTS‑connected solar‑wind hybrid project, marking a strategic pivot into renewables.
Built for Resilience: Hybrid Energy Solution
Spanning sites in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, the hybrid project ensures steady energy output by blending solar and wind power, enhancing grid reliability. Given the ISTS connectivity, NHPC secures the ability to distribute clean energy across multiple states.
Competitive Pricing While Supporting Sustainability
The agreement fixes the tariff at ₹3.49/kWh for the entire 300 MW capacity. With commissioning expected within 24 months, the project aligns with India’s mission to expand clean energy infrastructure and lower carbon emissions.
NHPC Diversifies Beyond Hydropower
This PPA signifies NHPC’s strategic expansion beyond hydropower into hybrid renewables. By leveraging its procurement capabilities, the PSU strengthens its role in orchestrating large-scale clean energy rollouts.
JSW’s Clean Energy Vision Strengthened
JSW Energy now locks in a significant long-term offtake with NHPC—bolstering its aim to reach 30 GW generation and 40 GWh storage by FY30, and charting a path toward carbon neutrality by 2050. As of now, JSW boasts 29.9 GW of locked‑in generation capacity—including 12.5 GW operational, 12.8 GW under construction, plus 4.6 GW in pipeline—and 29.3 GWh in storage capacity.
About NHPC:
