New Delhi: NHPC Limited has announced key changes in its senior management following the retirement of Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Executive Director, and the promotion of two senior officials, effective January 1, 2026. The disclosures have been made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Retirement of Executive Director
Mr. Sandeep Kumar retired from NHPC on December 31, 2025, upon attaining the age of superannuation. During his tenure, he played an important role in strengthening the company’s operational efficiency and contributed significantly to strategic initiatives across NHPC’s power generation portfolio. The company acknowledged his valuable service and contributions to the organization and the Indian power sector.

Promotions to Key Leadership Roles
With effect from January 1, 2026, Mr. Rajeev Jain and Mr. Abhayanand Thakur have been promoted to senior leadership positions within the company as part of NHPC’s succession planning framework.
Mr. Rajeev Jain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and joined NHPC on June 9, 1997. With nearly 28 years of professional experience, he has been associated with various key projects and operational assignments within the organization.
Mr. Abhayanand Thakur, a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering, joined NHPC on December 9, 1996, and brings close to 29 years of extensive experience. Over the years, he has contributed to multiple critical functions, supporting NHPC’s growth and project execution capabilities.

NHPC stated that these leadership changes reflect the company’s continued emphasis on strengthening its internal talent pool, ensuring leadership continuity, and maintaining operational excellence. The appointments are expected to further support NHPC’s long-term growth objectives and project execution efficiency.

The company has confirmed that the details of the retirement and promotions have been duly submitted to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited for compliance and record-keeping.
