NLC India Renewables Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Ltd, has formed a joint venture with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) to develop renewable energy projects. The new company, named “NIRL Rajasthan Renewables Limited”, has been incorporated with equity participation in the ratio of 74:26 between NLC India Renewables and RVUNL, respectively.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs issued the Certificate of Incorporation for the joint venture on June 2, 2025. The venture aims to develop, operate, and maintain green energy projects across Rajasthan. The formation of the company has received necessary approval from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) under the Ministry of Coal.
Following the announcement, shares of NLC India Ltd were trading down by 2.83% at Rs. 232.78 on the BSE.

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), formerly known as Neyveli Lignite Corporation, is a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Established in 1956, NLCIL is headquartered in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, and specializes in lignite mining and power generation, including thermal, solar, and wind energy.
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL)
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) is the electricity generation company of the Government of Rajasthan, established in 2000 following the unbundling of the Rajasthan State Electricity Board. Headquartered in Jaipur, RVUNL is responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining state-owned power stations in Rajasthan.
