New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at boosting skill development and entrepreneurship in the North-Eastern region, the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North-East Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC).
The agreement seeks to mobilise industry-oriented, skill-based training programs, particularly focused on the handloom and handicraft sectors, to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth in the region.

Driving Regional Empowerment through Skill Training
The MoU was signed between Kartikeya Sinha, Director (Planning & Marketing), NSIC, and Mara Kocho, IES, Managing Director of NEHHDC, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
This collaboration aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the North-East by developing market-relevant skills, encouraging self-reliance among artisans and youth, and improving access to national and international markets.
Strategic Focus on MSME Growth in the North-East
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to extend the reach of its developmental schemes to the remotest parts of the country. The MoU is expected to facilitate skill training, technology support, credit linkages, and market assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs and artisans in the region.
With this partnership, NSIC and NEHHDC aim to nurture local talent and traditional craftsmanship, while integrating them with modern business practices and market access strategies.
