NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has achieved a major milestone by producing over 2 million tons of hot metal in FY 2024-25, doubling last year’s output. Its Nagarnar plant, commissioned in August 2023, is now running at 60% of its full 3.3 MTPA capacity and aims to reach full capacity this year. Despite market challenges and a two-week halt due to transporter protests, NSL sold 1.45 million tons of Hot Rolled (HR) Coils and Sheets — a 300% rise over the previous year.
In March 2025 alone, NSL set a new record by dispatching 229,874 tons of HR Coils, supported by four LSFTO rakes, boosting efficiency and customer reach. CMD Amitava Mukherjee praised the team’s growing strength, expressing confidence in hitting full capacity soon. NSL also earned four ISO Licenses, seven BIS Certifications, and the CE mark, opening the door to European markets. Directors Joydeep Dasgupta and MNVS Prabhakar credited the team’s dedication and resilience, highlighting NSL’s contribution to Atmanirbhar Bharat and its growing role in India’s steel sector.
