NTPC Farakka has been conferred with the Gold Award in the Sustainable Development category at the Green Enviro Environment Awards 2025, presented by the Green Enviro Foundation. The award ceremony was held in Lonavala, Maharashtra, and was graced by former Union Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu and “Bamboo Man of India” Mr. Pasha Patel.
The recognition highlights NTPC Farakka’s exemplary commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. In FY 2024-25, the unit achieved over 100% ash utilisation, implemented a zero-liquid-discharge system, and undertook large-scale monsoon rainwater harvesting through 17 recharge pits, as well as multiple channels and water bodies.
The power station has also made significant contributions to biodiversity conservation. It has collaborated with ICAR-CIFRI on Ganga fish ranching initiatives and adopted more than 100 spotted deer, 40 budgerigars, and other species at Adina Park. Additionally, continuous afforestation drives are enriching the green belt in and around the facility.
This prestigious honour not only reinforces NTPC Farakka’s leadership in sustainable energy practices but also underlines its ongoing efforts to balance industrial growth with ecological responsibility.
