New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has announced the appointment of three new Independent Directors to its Board, following an order from the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The appointments – effective from May 14, 2025 – are for a period of three years from the date of notification (May 8, 2025), or until further orders, whichever comes earlier, according to a regulatory filing by the company on Wednesday.
The newly appointed Independent Directors are CA Deepak Babu, Brajesh Kumar Singh (also known as Brajesh Raman), and Phalguni Patra.
Director Profiles
CA Deepak Babu is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with over four decades of experience. A senior partner at M/s Deepak Babu & Associates in Moradabad, he holds a Master’s degree in Commerce from Rohilkhand University and brings deep expertise in finance, accounting, and taxation.
Brajesh Kumar Singh holds a degree in Political Science and brings over 30 years of experience in the fields of humanities, social services, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). He is known for his commitment to social equity and humanitarian development.
Phalguni Patra, an Arts graduate, has built her career around community development, social empowerment, and inclusive growth. She has worked extensively at the intersection of business and social development, contributing to strategic social impact initiatives.
NGEL confirmed that none of the newly appointed directors hold any shares in the company, nor are they related to any existing board members. Additionally, all three have been verified as not being debarred by SEBI or any regulatory authority from holding directorial positions.
The appointments are seen as a step toward strengthening NGEL’s governance and aligning with its expanding role in India’s green energy transition.
