NTPC Green Energy Commissions 12.5 MW Solar Capacity at Bhuj, Gujarat to Boost India’s Renewable Energy Goals

The commissioning of the Bhuj solar project raises NTPC Green Energy’s total operational capacity to 7,419.975 MW, reinforcing its leadership in India’s clean energy transition.

New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has commenced commercial operations for a 12.5 MW solar power capacity at its Bhuj Solar Project in Gujarat. This marks a key milestone in India’s journey toward clean energy and reinforces NTPC Green Energy’s leadership in the renewable sector.

The 12.5 MW capacity is part of the 37.5 MW total solar project being developed at Bhuj. The project is owned by Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd., which is itself a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Ltd. — a joint venture between ONGC and NTPC Green Energy.

Total NGEL Group Capacity Reaches 7,419.975 MW

With the commissioning of the Bhuj solar capacity, the total commercial capacity of the NGEL Group has increased to 7,419.975 MW, up from 7,407.475 MW. This expansion reflects NGEL’s consistent efforts to scale up its renewable energy footprint across India.

The company’s renewable portfolio includes solar, wind, and hybrid projects, all aimed at supporting India’s energy transition goals and achieving the nation’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.

Strengthening India’s Clean Energy Ambitions

The Bhuj solar project aligns with India’s broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and clean energy independence. NTPC Green Energy has been accelerating its capacity additions through strategic collaborations and large-scale renewable deployments.

The operationalization of the Bhuj project highlights NGEL’s commitment to decarbonizing India’s energy mix, creating green jobs, and driving sustainable development.
