New Delhi: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy solutions and supporting India’s growing digital infrastructure, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CtrlS Datacenter Limited (CtrlS) on October 31, 2025, in New Delhi.
The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Sarit Maheshwari, CEO (NGEL & NTPC REL), and Mr. Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder & Chairman, CtrlS Datacenter Ltd., in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
Objective of the MoU
The collaboration aims to explore business opportunities of mutual interest for the development of Renewable Energy (RE) Projects with a capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW) or more. These projects will focus on supplying Round-the-Clock (RTC) renewable power to CtrlS datacenters across India for their captive consumption.
The partnership will not only help CtrlS in achieving its sustainability goals and reducing its carbon footprint but will also support India’s vision of transitioning towards clean energy.
Driving the Green Digital Revolution
CtrlS Datacenters, one of India’s leading data center providers, has been actively pursuing green initiatives to power its operations through renewable energy sources. With this collaboration, CtrlS aims to move closer to its target of running data centers on 100% renewable power in the near future.
NGEL, with its extensive expertise in developing and managing large-scale renewable energy projects, will help design, implement, and deliver the energy solutions required to meet CtrlS’s growing power demand across its pan-India facilities.
Strengthening India’s Renewable Energy Ecosystem
The partnership aligns with the Government of India’s target to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity by 2030. It also reflects the growing synergy between the energy and digital infrastructure sectors, which are crucial for driving sustainable economic growth.
