Mumbai: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has begun commercial operations for two significant renewable energy projects in Gujarat. The move strengthens NTPC’s role in India’s clean energy transition.
Solar Expansion at Khavda-I Project
On August 20, 2025, NTPC REL commenced operations of the fourth phase of the Khavda-I Solar PV Project. This phase contributes 212.5 MW to the ongoing 1,255 MW capacity being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III. The project is a cornerstone of India’s efforts to expand solar generation in the western region.
Hybrid Wind-Solar Project Operationalised
The company also confirmed the commercial launch of 52.8 MW wind capacity under a 100 MW hybrid project in Gujarat. The project, developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited in partnership with ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, includes 92.4 MW of wind and 37.5 MW of solar capacity. Commercial operations for this phase began on August 21, 2025.
Strengthening India’s Renewable Energy Drive
With these developments, NTPC REL continues to expand its renewable portfolio, supporting the national mission for sustainable growth. The projects mark an important step in enhancing India’s green energy capacity through large-scale solar and wind integration.
