New Delhi: NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated power utility, announced on Saturday that it has achieved its fastest-ever generation of 400 Billion Units (BU) on March 1, 2025, for the financial year FY24-25. The milestone was reached in just 335 days, marking a significant achievement by surpassing the target 12 days earlier than in the previous financial year.
In FY23-24, NTPC had crossed the 400 BU generation mark on March 13, 2024, setting a benchmark that has now been improved in FY24-25. This record performance underscores NTPC’s continued leadership in India’s power sector, as the company contributes to one-fourth of the country’s power requirements.
NTPC has an installed capacity of over 77 GW, with an additional 29.5 GW capacity under construction, including 9.6 GW from renewable energy sources. The company remains committed to its ambitious target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
Apart from its core power generation activities, NTPC is expanding into diverse new business areas such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions. Additionally, the company has participated in the bidding process for power distribution in Union Territories, further diversifying its portfolio.
This achievement highlights NTPC’s sustained efforts to strengthen India’s energy infrastructure while ensuring a sustainable and cleaner future for the country.
