New Delhi: Mr Ashish Thakare, a 2011-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Government of India.
The Competent Authority has approved his appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.

The appointment notification, issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), directs the immediate release of Shri Thakare from his current duties to enable him to assume the new role in Delhi. The circular specifies that, in accordance with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, the officer must join the post within three weeks of the appointment order. Failure to do so may result in debarment from future Central Staffing Scheme postings.
