On the occasion of the 70th Foundation Day of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Dubna Iron Ore Mines and unveiled a series of digital and green energy initiatives at a commemorative event held at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including Steel & Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar, and OMC Managing Director Sudhansu Mohan Samal.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister lauded OMC’s pivotal role in Odisha’s industrial growth. “OMC is instrumental in driving our Vision 2036 for a robust manufacturing sector. The establishment of beneficiation and pelletisation plants will create jobs and strengthen our industrial infrastructure,” he said.
Majhi emphasized the state’s investor-friendly environment and praised OMC’s workforce for their contributions. “Our Ease of Doing Business reforms continue to attract major investments. I commend OMC employees for their dedication,” he noted.
The Dubna Iron Ore Mines, located in Keonjhar’s Barbil area, will produce 3 million tonnes of iron ore and 0.05 million tonnes of manganese annually. The mines hold reserves of 25.77 MT of iron ore and 2.6 MT of manganese.
To promote sustainable operations, the event also marked the commissioning of power infrastructure for the Tiringpahar Mines and Rengalbeda RR Colony, and the launch of a 920 kWp solar power plant spread across Barbil and Koira.
OMC also launched four new IT platforms aimed at boosting transparency and efficiency:
- Logistics Management System (LMS) – For real-time ore dispatch tracking
- OMC Plotwise Land Use System (OPLUS) – For digital land monitoring
- OMC Finance Management System (OFMS) – For efficient financial operations
- OMC Recruitment Management System (ORMS) – For transparent, merit-based hiring
Minister Jena highlighted OMC’s broader role, saying, “OMC is not just about mining—it’s about building a self-reliant Odisha through innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth.”
The Chief Minister also presented organisational awards in various categories and released a CSR booklet titled “Touching Lives – OMC’s Social Commitment”. A photo exhibition showcased OMC’s achievements and best practices.
In FY 2024–25, OMC reported its highest-ever mineral production of 40.2 million tonnes, including 35.7 MT of iron ore, 3.0 MT of bauxite, and 1.37 MT of chrome ore, along with record sales of 43.41 million tonnes.
