On June 27th, the government of Odisha gave the nod to the investment proposals worth Rs 903.41 crore in its renewable energy (RE) sector. Mr. Vishal Kumar Dev (1996-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Principal Secretary in the State Energy Department, led the single window committee (SWC) — which eventually cleared the investment proposals intending to meet the state’s RE target of 10 GW by 2030.
The said SWC panel approved the proposal of the Maharatna PSU HPCL Renewable & Green Energy Ltd to set up a 48-MW wind energy project at Umerkote in Nabarangpur district. At the same time, another Maharatna PSU ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd received the nod to develop a 49.5-MW wind energy project in Astaranga in the Puri district. The total investment for these two wind energy projects stands at a whopping Rs 881.28 crores.
