New Delhi: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has reported robust growth in mineral production during the ongoing financial year 2025–26, with iron ore output reaching 24.88 million tonnes (MT) as on December 31, 2025. The figure is higher than the production recorded during the corresponding period of the previous financial year, reflecting strong operational performance by the state-owned miner.

Overall Production Performance

During the April–December period of FY26, OMC achieved total mineral production of 29.03 MT, comprising iron ore, chrome ore, bauxite and other minor minerals. This strong performance has further reinforced OMC’s position among India’s leading mining companies and has placed the corporation on track to achieve a new production milestone by the end of the current fiscal year.

Strong Growth in Q3 FY26

OMC’s production momentum was particularly visible in the third quarter of FY26. The company recorded 12.94 MT of mineral production in Q3, registering a growth of around 31.5 per cent compared to 9.84 MT produced in the corresponding quarter of FY25.

The Q3 output included:

  • 11.23 MT of iron ore
  • 0.49 MT of chrome ore
  • 1.15 MT of bauxite
  • 0.07 MT of other minerals

Key Drivers Behind the Growth

According to OMC, the impressive growth has been driven by optimised mining operations, favourable operating conditions and a sustained focus on safety and productivity. The company stated that continued operational efforts in the fourth quarter are expected to help it surpass last year’s total mineral production, potentially marking the highest-ever output in the corporation’s history.

Role of Technology and Digital Initiatives

OMC highlighted that its production performance has been supported by operational excellence, digital enablement and efficient resource utilisation. The corporation has been leveraging technology-led solutions such as its Logistics Management System (LMS) and Fleet Management System (FMS) to improve dispatch planning, enhance equipment utilisation, reduce downtime and enable real-time monitoring of mining and transportation activities.

Focus on Sustainable and Responsible Mining

Alongside production growth, OMC reiterated its strong commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices. The company continues to focus on scientific mining, environmental compliance, safety measures, afforestation, water conservation and progressive mine closure initiatives, ensuring balanced development alongside environmental stewardship.
