ONGC Appoints Ashish Bhatnagar and Debasish Mukherjee as Executive Directors to Strengthen Leadership

New Delhi: In a move aimed at strengthening its executive leadership, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s largest oil and gas exploration company, has announced the appointment of two senior executives, Ashish Bhatnagar and Debasish Mukherjee, as Executive Directors, effective January 20, 2026. The announcement was made in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, and communicated to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited.

Key Appointments at ONGC

The appointments place Bhatnagar and Mukherjee at the Executive Director level, one tier below the Board, reflecting ONGC’s focus on strengthening senior management with experienced internal talent.

Ashish Bhatnagar – Executive Director

Mr. Ashish Bhatnagar is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Jodhpur University. He began his career at ONGC as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical) in Mehsana and has over 36 years of professional experience. Bhatnagar has served across multiple ONGC locations, including Mehsana, Nazira, Dehradun, Mumbai, ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL), and Delhi, gaining extensive operational and leadership experience.

Debasish Mukherjee – Executive Director

Mr. Debasish Mukherjee holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University, an MBA from IGNOU, and a PhD in Management from Amity University, Noida. He joined ONGC as a Materials Management Officer in Dehradun and has served in key locations such as Dehradun, Chennai, Delhi, and Jorhat, bringing 35 years of professional expertise in materials management, administration, and strategic operations.

Strengthening ONGC’s Leadership

The appointments of Bhatnagar and Mukherjee reinforce ONGC’s commitment to internal leadership development and the continuity of experienced talent at senior levels. Both executives bring decades of domain knowledge and operational experience, which are expected to enhance ONGC’s operational efficiency, strategic capabilities, and long-term growth plans.

The announcement was signed by Mr. Shashi Bhushan Singh, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, ONGC, highlighting the formal induction of the executives into the leadership team.
