Vadodara/New Delhi: India’s Maharatna oil and gas company, ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited), has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wild Well Control Inc., a global leader in well-control management, to enhance its expertise in handling blow-outs and complex well-control situations. The agreement was executed on December 9, 2025, during a virtual ceremony attended by senior officials from both organizations.

The MoU aims to further strengthen ONGC’s Crisis Management Team (CMT), which already possesses robust in-house capabilities to independently manage large-scale onshore blow-outs. Through this collaboration, ONGC will gain access to world-class global expertise, particularly in challenging onshore and offshore environments, including deep-water drilling operations. The partnership is expected to enhance technical knowledge, operational preparedness, and rapid response capabilities in critical well-control scenarios.

Virtual Ceremony and Key Participants

The MoU signing was conducted virtually, with ED-Chief Drilling Services (Onshore) M. Porcia representing ONGC from Vadodara. Director (Technology & Field Services) Vikram Saxena joined the ceremony from New Delhi. Representatives from Wild Well Control participated from Singapore and Mumbai. During the event, both parties highlighted the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adopting global best practices in well-control management to ensure operational safety and environmental protection.

Strengthening ONGC’s Technical Capabilities

ONGC’s CMT has long been recognized for its ability to manage complex onshore blow-out situations independently. This MoU will elevate its capabilities across both onshore and offshore domains, ensuring that the company is fully prepared to handle emergencies, minimize operational risks, and maintain high safety and environmental standards. The partnership also reinforces ONGC’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology and global expertise to maintain leadership in India’s oil and gas sector.

About ONGC

ONGC, a Maharatna public sector undertaking (PSU), is India’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company. With a strong focus on operational excellence, safety, and sustainable energy practices, ONGC continues to play a crucial role in securing India’s energy future and expanding its technological capabilities in challenging environments.
