Delhi: In a major breakthrough, Shahdara Police in Delhi, have successfully recovered 555 stolen, snatched, and lost mobile phones worth a total of ₹1.5 crore over the past eight months under the ambitious ‘Operation Vishwas,’ which was launched on April 1, 2024.
The phones, which were either stolen or lost, were traced across various states, with a significant number of recoveries made in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and other regions.
Key highlights of the operation include:
- 428 phones recovered in Delhi.
- 100 phones traced in Uttar Pradesh, with the remaining recovered in states like Bihar, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh.
- The Seemapuri Police Station led the charge with a remarkable recovery of 163 phones, followed by GTB Enclave Police Station, which secured 98 phones.
The recovery efforts were made possible through the use of IMEI tracking, the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, and relentless investigative work by Shahdara Police. The operation also led to the arrest of 45 criminals involved in the theft and snatching of mobile phones.
The success of Operation Vishwas underscores the commitment of the Delhi Police in curbing mobile phone thefts and ensuring justice for victims.
