Chennai: The Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, witnessed a proud moment as 176 Officer Cadets were commissioned into the Indian Army during the Passing Out Parade (POP). The grand ceremony was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), who praised the cadets for their discipline, precision, and commitment.
A Grand Military Display
The parade marked the commissioning of 155 Officer Cadets, including 25 women, into the Indian Army. Alongside them, 21 Officer Cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries, including 12 women, successfully completed their training. Their participation reflects India’s growing defence partnerships and deepening military-to-military cooperation with allied nations.
The cadets, belonging to SSC-120, SSC (W)-34, and equivalent courses, showcased immaculate drill and turnout. The event stood as a testimony to the rigorous training, discipline, and pride nurtured at OTA.
CAS Encourages New Leaders
Air Chief Marshal Singh complimented the cadets on their achievement and congratulated their families for their unwavering support. Addressing the young officers, he underlined the singular honour of serving in the armed forces and urged them to remain steadfast in upholding the traditions of valour, integrity, and selfless service.
He also emphasized the importance of leadership in the face of challenges, encouraging the officers to lead by example and embody the ethos of the Indian Army.

Pipping Ceremony and Solemn Tribute
Following the parade, the Pipping Ceremony was held where the newly commissioned officers proudly donned their stars, marking the beginning of their service. The moment symbolized their transformation from cadets to commissioned leaders of the Army.
The Chief of the Air Staff also paid homage to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Temple of Remembrance in OTA, honouring the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation.
Strengthening Bonds Across Borders
The inclusion of cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries further highlighted India’s role as a hub of military training and cooperation. Their successful completion of the rigorous course reflects the shared commitment to global peace, security, and mutual respect between India and its partner nations.
