The Turning Point: Finding Strength in Setback
In her viral Instagram post, Ms. Bishnoi reflected on her personal and professional transformation. Her words, “The real victory is when you don’t quit,” have resonated deeply with millions.
She shared, “If you’re in a dark place right now – you’re not stuck, you’re not broken. You can change your life. It’s completely in your own hands.”
Her message, filled with empathy and encouragement, emphasizes the power of self-belief and the importance of mental health during preparation for competitive examinations.
A Phase of Struggle and Self-Discovery
After her initial failure in 2017, Ms. Bishnoi moved back to Rajasthan and went through a phase of isolation. Admitting to emotional eating and stress, she revealed that she gained 45 kilograms during this period.
“I isolated myself. Shut out the world. Stress eating became my escape,” she wrote, describing how she felt “heavy, not just physically, but emotionally too.”
But when she received her UPSC interview call, something changed within her. “I decided to fight not just for a rank but for myself,” she said. From then on, she focused on rebuilding her physical and mental strength through discipline, exercise, and self-reflection.
Shedding Fear, Embracing Strength
For Ms. Bishnoi, losing weight was more symbolic than physical. “Losing that weight wasn’t just about numbers. It was about shedding fear, doubt, and everything that made me feel I wasn’t enough,” she explained.
Her story serves as a powerful reminder that development and personal growth often begin from within. Ms. Bishnoi’s transformation underscores the importance of mental resilience, holistic well-being, and self-discipline – qualities essential not just for civil services but for leadership and governance.
Personal Life and Legacy
Ms. Bishnoi, who now serves as an IAS officer, is married to Mr. Bhavya Bishnoi, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and grandson of former Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhajan Lal Bishnoi. The couple recently welcomed their daughter, Veda, in February this year.
Her story continues to inspire aspirants and professionals alike, symbolizing the strength of women leaders who overcome adversity and contribute meaningfully to India’s administrative and developmental landscape.
