New Delhi: Petronet LNG Limited (PLL), India’s leading importer of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), has announced a routine change in its Board of Directors. Mr. Muker Jeet Sharma, who served as an Independent Director, has stepped down from the Board following the completion of his three-year tenure. The cessation of his tenure became effective from November 24, 2025.

Board Change Details

The company communicated the update to the stock exchanges in accordance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Key details include:

  • Director Name: Mr. Muker Jeet Sharma (DIN: 07599788)
  • Reason for Cessation: Completion of a three-year term as Independent Director, concluding on November 23, 2025

The departure is a standard corporate governance procedure marking the end of a director’s specified tenure. Petronet LNG continues to operate its major LNG terminals, including Dahej and Kochi, which play a critical role in India’s energy security.

Profile of Mr. Muker Jeet Sharma

Mr. Muker Jeet Sharma, aged 70, is a retired officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFS), 1985 batch. He holds a Science graduate degree from Jammu, an M.Sc. in Geography from Punjab University, Chandigarh, and an M.Sc. in Forestry from F.R.I., Dehradun.

With over 41 years of experience, Mr. Sharma has expertise in administration, soil and water conservation, global warming, pollution control, climate change, ecology, environment protection, business strategy, consultancy, and project management.

He served in the State Forest Service (1978–1985) and subsequently in the Indian Forest Service (1985–2014), retiring as Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. During his tenure, he led multiple initiatives in forest conservation and community forestry in Jammu & Kashmir. His contributions were recognized with the Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award.

Beyond forestry, Mr. Sharma is the Founder and President of the J&K Amateur Fencing Association and has provided strategic guidance as an Independent Director on PLL’s Board.
