In a significant move to strengthen Eastern India’s energy infrastructure, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (BPCL) new ₹340.15 crore LPG Bottling Plant at Hathua in Gopalganj district, Bihar.
The state-of-the-art facility is a critical step in meeting the growing demand for LPG in North-West and North-Central Bihar. The plant, equipped with cutting-edge safety and sustainability features, is expected to be completed by March 2027 and will have a bottling capacity of 180 Thousand Metric Tonnes Per Annum (TMTPA).

- Vapour Recovery Systems: To reduce emissions and improve environmental compliance
Driving Sustainability and Economic Growth
- Employment Generation: Estimated 1.2 lakh man-days during the construction phase
- Carbon Footprint Reduction: Approximately 11,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ annually – equivalent to planting 5 lakh trees
- Cleaner Logistics: Reduced reliance on road transport for LPG, leading to lower emissions
- Energy Security: Ensures uninterrupted LPG supply for both domestic and commercial users in the region
The plant aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and BPCL’s commitment to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040. It underscores the push toward cleaner, greener, and more accessible energy solutions for the nation.
