New Delhi: In a historic move, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has been renamed ‘Seva Teerth’, reflecting its commitment to public service and the government’s vision for efficient governance. The decision, taken by the Modi government, marks a significant step in modernizing administrative infrastructure and public service delivery.

Historic Shift from South Block

The PMO, which has operated from the South Block for decades, will soon relocate to a newly constructed complex called Seva Teerth. The first building of the complex, Seva Teerth-1, will serve as the new office of the Prime Minister. This move is being described as a major milestone in the functioning of the Indian government and a step toward modern, technology-driven administration.

The Three-Building Seva Teerth Complex

The Seva Teerth complex, located at Executive Enclave-1 near Vayu Bhawan, consists of three modern buildings:

  • Seva Teerth-1: Houses the Prime Minister’s Office and will be the primary center for administrative operations.
  • Seva Teerth-2: Accommodates the Cabinet Secretariat, where key government decisions and policies are formulated.
  • Seva Teerth-3: Hosts the office of the National Security Advisor (NSA), responsible for national security and strategic matters.

The complex is designed with cutting-edge technology to facilitate smoother operations, faster decision-making, and improved coordination between departments.

Relocation Process Underway

The shifting process has already begun. On October 14, Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan held a crucial meeting in Seva Teerth-2 with the Chief of Defence Staff and the chiefs of all three armed forces. The meeting highlighted the swift progress of the relocation and the operational readiness of the new facilities.

Modern Infrastructure for Efficient Governance

The Seva Teerth complex features state-of-the-art infrastructure aimed at streamlining government processes. High-tech facilities will enable faster file processing, efficient coordination, and prompt decision-making. Officials believe this modern setup will not only enhance the functioning of the PMO but also set a benchmark for administrative efficiency across the government.

A New Chapter in Governance

The move from South Block to Seva Teerth is more than just a change of address—it represents a new era in India’s governance. The renaming and modernization symbolize the government’s focus on public service, innovation, and transparency, reflecting its vision of a progressive, efficient, and citizen-centric administration.
