Among the newly introduced deposit schemes are specially designed products for salaried professionals, women, defence personnel, farmers, NRIs, senior citizens, pensioners, students, and the youth. These schemes reflect PNB’s intent to cater to diverse segments of society and bring tailored banking solutions to the forefront.
To enhance digital engagement and customer interaction, PNB rolled out new features including a QR code-based customer feedback system, a live-chat assistant named “Pihu,” and upgraded internal banking tools aimed at improving operational efficiency and service quality.
Mr. Nagaraju appreciated the bank’s efforts in strengthening cybersecurity awareness. He highlighted PNB’s recent Half Marathon, conducted under the theme ‘Cyber Run – Empowering a Secure Digital India’, as a significant initiative to promote safe digital banking practices. The event, aimed at educating the public about cyber fraud prevention, is part of the bank’s broader campaign to build a secure digital ecosystem.
PNB MD and CEO Mr. Ashok Chandra expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and underscored the bank’s social contributions. “Our initiatives have uplifted the underprivileged, empowered citizens, educated the youth, increased farmers’ income, and fostered entrepreneurship—all aligning with the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said. Mr. Chandra added that the bank is actively refining its grievance redressal mechanisms, improving call centre efficiency, and integrating feedback systems using QR codes to boost customer satisfaction.
Founded on April 12, 1895, during the Swadeshi movement, PNB opened its first branch in Lahore, which is now in Pakistan. The bank made history by declaring a 4 percent dividend within just seven months of operation. Notably, the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai was the first person to open an account with PNB, marking the beginning of a legacy rooted in national pride and service.
